Typology editorial book complementing type specimen
Garamond - Type Specimen
This assignment was for my editorial paper. I chose Adobe Garamond for my type specimen because it was used as the text typeface in many Dr. Seuss books. I chose a booklet format for my specimen to reflect a storybook and to tell the narrative of Garamond’s history. Adobe Garamond was the first digitised version of Garamond and is used in many fiction novels that young designers will remember and relate to from their childhood. It is known for its legibility and readability which makes it an ideal book typeface. The pink and blue colour scheme is taken from the Lorax by Dr. Seuss. The bright and vibrant booklet gives a fresh approach to Garamond, reviving it and giving it a modern twist that will inspire young designers.
